Summary

Pieces II is best described as a Puzznic clone. Most of the 200 levels is provided by the C64 community and this is perhaps its failing. Taking on level submissions from various sources results in a disjointed puzzle progression experience and many will get bored with the game as the initial 170 odd levels are relatively easy to complete and the whole thing feels repetitive.

Setting the levels aside, the overall presentation is solid and game play is simple to pick up and learn. I am happy to see a password system being applied to help you retain your progress over multiple gaming sessions.

There is nothing necessarily innovative about Pieces II but it will provide many hours of play for those that enjoy puzzle games. For everyone else – best to look elsewhere.
