Summary
Lyoberon Mecha 1 is a dull vertical scrolling shooter with dumb enemy AI and uninspiring attack waves. It is possible to advance through most of the game without killing a single enemy as they literally have no sense of directional awareness. You can stand right next to an enemy and you will be perfectly safe to go and make yourself a cup of tea as the enemy will just continue shooting down screen.
The game does try and provide a somewhat different look to each of its levels but the production is let down by in game SID music that sounds like it is grossly out of tune.
The download actually comes with two versions of the game – with the only difference between the two being that the second (the DLX version) has more frequent enemies and moves slightly quicker. The first (basic version) is best avoided as it is mind numbingly dull and provides no challenge what so ever.
